In Luxembourg, terrace orientation changes everything: summer heat, low evening sun, prevailing wind, off-season use. Before choosing bioclimatic, fabric or awnings, we read the exposure first — then size the product.

South: controlling the heat
Classic villa exposure. A bioclimatic pergola (adjustable louvres) or retractable fabric doses the shade. Vertical blinds complete the setup when the sun is low or neighbours see too much. LEDs and evenings: useful as soon as you stay outside after 7 pm.
West: the sun that “hits” in the evening
Often underestimated. An awning alone shades the ground but leaves the view and low sun. A vertical blind (screen) along the pergola or bay changes aperitif comfort. Many Windhof projects combine structure + west vertical.

Questions fréquentes
Do you always need bioclimatic on a south exposure?
Often relevant, but a well-sized fabric + blinds can suffice depending on use and budget. The visit decides.
West: awning or vertical blind?
Vertical handles low sun and privacy better. The awning remains useful for ground shade. The two are sometimes combined.
North: is a pergola still useful?
Yes for rain, outdoor volume and privacy — solar shade is less the main issue.
